Goals are made one week at a time.

12 weeks, 3 months, 1 season.
What will you work toward this week to accomplish this season?

This Spring, with the sunny season in Seattle approaching, I took a look at the map and set myself two goals: bike 5 of the Puget Sound islands, and run the 9 creeks that are tributaries of Lake Washington.

Over the course of the Summer, from late May through late August, I biked over 200 miles around beautiful hilly forested islands, and ran just over 87 miles along creeks through trails and neighborhoods.

I learned the power of water to inspire nature among us as I spotted a coyote in a Kirkland suburb along a branch of Juanita Creek, and navigated through Northgate by birdsong along a branch of Thornton Creek. By moving through the spaces around me, I learned about the neighborhoods around Seattle, about water carving hilly glaciated islands for me to climb, and ravinated forested creeks for me to bound along. I found joy in moving my body through these spaces.

Why do I share this with you? You and I are given the same 24 hours each day. You can set a big goal and use just 1 or 2 days a week to accomplish it too.

In just 2 days a week over the course of a season, I covered on foot or by bike an entire watershed. Fall is here and winter is approaching. What will your 12 week goal be? Let’s accomplish it together 2 days a week at a time.
